Imagine Team Receive Commendation for Outstanding Contribution to Public Engagement

Helvetica Light is an easy-to-read font, with tall and narrow letters, that works well on almost every site.

🎉 We are thrilled to announce that our inter-disciplinary team from the Faculty of Science & Engineering received a commendation for Outstanding Contribution to Public Engagement at the University of Liverpool Staff Awards 2024!

🎉Our pioneering research on novel nuclear energy technologies aims to provide clean, reliable, and sustainable energy access for all. This recognition is a testament to our team's dedication to scientific excellence and out-of-the-box thinking.

🌟But our journey doesn't stop at the lab. We believe that true success in nuclear energy solutions hinges on positive societal recognition. That’s why we've made it a priority to make the public a key stakeholder in our process, taking feedback and busting myths along the way.

Our Engagement Highlights:

•Meet the Scientists, World Museum: Over 200 visitors, including children and adults, experienced running their own nuclear reactor (via a hands-on game) and measuring radiation in everyday objects like bananas. 🍌

•Masterclass on Nuclear Energy: More than 100 GCSE & A-level students at @Life-Sciences UTC explored the future of nuclear energy and the Monte-Carlo methods through an inspirational Pi-counting activity. 🧮

•Pint of Science: We broke down our research for over 60 people at a local pub, making complex science accessible and engaging. 🍻

•National Engagement in Dounreay: We listened to and amplified the voices of a small nuclear-town on the decline, gathering crucial evidence for policymakers and industry stakeholders. 🏛️

•Science in Parliament: Our work featured in this prestigious journal of the UK Parliament, reaching all MPs, Peers, and 210 scientific and technical institutions. 📜

•International Outreach: Our media outreach and engagement at IAEA & OECD-NEA forums has touched over 3 million people globally, even influencing policy changes. 🌍

This recognition underscores the positive impact of our outreach efforts, transcending national and international boundaries. We are incredibly proud of our team's achievements and the difference we're making in the world.Thank you to everyone who has supported us on this journey. Here’s to many more milestones ahead! 🚀
